Carer's Support & Development

Co-ordinator:  Michelle Southcott

The Carers Support and Development Co-ordinator- Michelle is based at Hadleigh Training Centre is new & available to support & take care of the Carers- the task of being a Carer can be very demanding, leaving little time or opportunity for a break.
In addition, Carers are frequently unaware of what support services are available to them. My role is one of offering advice & information; facilitating quality time out, via activities/social events/outings through provision of groups where carer’s have the opportunity to meet together & offer mutual support to one another. The service also provides access to training, self development skills and volunteering opportunities.

The emphasis is on taking care of the carer & supporting them this is currently being delivered through one to one home visitation, a five day week drop in service; a weekly Friday afternoon Carers Café at the Tearooms, & a monthly social Coffee Evening. Providing a quality experience for Carers to enjoy & relax free from the demands of the caring role.

Future plans include parent carers (for parents who care for children with a disability/special need/substance misuses) activity group down at the farm on a Saturday morning followed by lunch- the lunch bunch! The Carers Event Project – this will provide quality outings/ events monthly; An Activate exercise group for Carers to enjoy improved physical fun & fitness at a local swimming pool/leisure centre; & a morning craft/ activity based group with Lunch club; & a carers
& cared for Good Company group.

Exciting Times ahead!! I Michelle can be reached on 01702 552963
