The aim of the Catering department is to produce good, wholesome food. We achieve this through the hard work and effort of every single member of our team. All trainees, staff and volunteers in the department are highly valued and provide an efficient and professional service.
We cater for the many staff, trainees and volunteers in the centre and also the public through our popular Tea Rooms. This creates a fast and dynamic atmosphere to work in, giving our trainees a taste of a working kitchen and providing excellent work preparation opportunities.
In addition to our main kitchen we now have a training kitchen which is used for baking and food preparation work. All of our trainees have shifts in the training kitchen and it has proved very popular. Our buffet service is now run from the training kitchen and is still going from strength to strength.
As well as developing our trainees practically, we endeavour to improve basic skills. This is achieved through, amongst other things, recipe reading and measuring ingredients. We attempt to instill confidence in our trainees to help them develop their skills and show what they are truly capable of achieving.
We would also like to say thank you to our catering supervisors and assistants who work extremely hard to make sure that our many customers who attend the Tea Rooms receive the best possible service.
