Employment Development Officers:
Ashley Smith, Lindsay Payne and Elaine Johnson
The Employment Development department works with trainees that are referred through Social Services, Jobcentre Plus, and Private funding equating to some 100 trainees.
This will include initial interview, negotiating start dates, funding, contract lengths and contract extensions.
Interviews are carried out on a regular basis both:
- Internal (departmental) Quarterly,
- External (Social Services, Home) Annually
- External reviews may be instigated by
- SAHTC (if we feel it appropriate.)
Employment Development is responsible for Organising Timetables for all 89 trainees (which includes Employment Services). This includes a waiting list if a department is full.
The department is also responsible for supporting trainees in:
- Paid Work
- Work Experience
- Voluntary Work
- Work Tasters Sessions
This includes transport and on the job training, regular liaison with employers or placement providers, completion of application forms, application letters or job searches and help with interviews. We also offer general work preparation advice and coaching on issues such as self confidence, assertiveness, literacy and numeracy in order to offer a complete work preparation package.
Continuing with an open door policy for any issues arising within the centre or at home, these continue to change on a daily basis, this has included but is not limited to financial support, transport, problems at home, employment problems, dietary problems and health problems.
Liaison with Social Services and Essex County Council
On going transport review. Highlighting areas of concern and ironing out teething problems.
Volunteers
Recruitment and retention of volunteers (Currently 38) throughout the centre.
Initial interview and induction reference etc before handing over to relevant department
