IT and Graphics

Tutor: Matthew Jones

The Graphic design department allows trainees to experience desk- top publishing practice through image manipulation, digital photography, scanning etc alongside actual real life work for outside agencies and in-house print commissions.
Trainees that wish to partake in the graphic design work learn how to design, produce posters, business cards, flyers, and postcards from concept design to finishing (laminating and cutting) from recognising the materials required to pricing up quotes.

So far this past year the graphics department under the social enterprise banner of H.T.C. Graphics has produced work for over 30 outside clients and has produced the new look menus and advertising for The Tea Rooms, Farmers Market and The Friends of the Hadleigh Training Centre.

To benefit the trainees on this course and to help develop their life skills the office skills and the graphic department run numeracy and literacy courses via interactive BBC skillswise course as well as Learn direct courses with recognised qualifications in English and Maths. For the next year we are looking into becoming a Learn Direct centre ourselves, capable of enrolling and examining trainees in literacy and numeracy which will compliment our already existing status as a CLAIT registered Centre.

Alongside all of this the department also caters for handwriting, drawing and photography lessons.

For the next year the department hopes to obtain full Learn Direct Centre status to increase the number of students successfully gaining recognised qualifications and to increase for the third year running the number of outside work being commissioned by clients.
